The Birth of Skipping Laundry
Our story began in a single-income household, relying solely on my husband’s firefighter salary. I was seeking ways to supplement our earnings, I explored passive income opportunities and discovered an $80,000 wash and fold business for sale. It included three dedicated laundry attendants to process orders, one delivery driver, and a loyal client base. However, this hefty price tag to purchase this business excluded a laundromat facility and unfortunately it also had an outdated website. In addition, the business did not have an app for order management. I realized that it would require significant additional investments to remain competitive if I were to acquire the business. Faced with the high risks, costs, and uncertainty of recouping the investment, I decided against the purchase.
This experience highlighted the need for a more accessible and affordable entry into the laundry industry for people like us. That’s when Skipping Laundry was born. I envisioned an app that empowers everyday Americans to offer wash and fold services without the traditional overheads. Skipping Laundry Marketplace allows our vendors to collaborate on orders without the need for a payroll staff. Our platform enables vendors to assign orders to other vendors and drivers, fostering affordable entrepreneurship and making the dream of owning a business achievable for all.
